"PROUD TO BE INDIAN"?!!

This is ironical;but true. All those people criticising CWG at delhi are now in full praise after the grand opening. Now all of a sudden i can see all praises everywhere;media ,social networking sites, news and common man,and also patriotism overflowing .Inspite of millions of rupees spent and goofed by politicians and organisers ,amidst all the controversies ,amidst the negative demotivative statements by many ,including mr .Chetan Bhagat  in Times of India ,this event opening went on in full zoom.(Pleading the youth not to support the event in a intention to moralise the politicians and corruption was infact ridiculous from mr Bhagat's side.) I needn't be a news reporter by repeating all those happening news from there(like the spectacular event opening, cultural diversities displayed ,the largest helium baloon in the world ,huge support extended by the indians ,etc etc.)Let's wait and see for more masala happening news ahead, once the games begin. And friends, following the crowd, akin those messages all around , why not even I  claim " proud to be an Indian":)So funny but true: people realise now that they are proud to be INDIANS!!!

I don’t know why if someone critize India, the Indians always assume it is from the people who live in USA. It could be Canadians, British, Russians, Australians, or even the Chinese. These are the same people who protest in the streets of India and shout “down with America” and then the next day, stand in front of a U.S. Consulate for hours for a 10 year visitor visa. If you don’t like here don’t come here. Period.

Me too, proud to be an Indian !!. The show was spectacular and grand. The whole world watching it made me swell with pride.Look at our adaptability as situation demanded ,we rose to the occasion. I know there are many issues which needs answers, let's wait and see.

True , I am proud to be an Indian.I am proud to be part and parcel of everything Indian, including the dust, the dirt, the poverty and the so called wealth, our culture, our tendency to accept some things as they are and not become too critical or cynical, our mindset to forgive, to move on with our lives.
I feel that people who are bent on critising India are in some way in- secured in their own so called secured world and since they have nothing better to do or contribute to society positively, they embark into the never ending game of finding faults with everything Indian.
Even if something good happens they try and twist it to something that they feel could have been prevented.
There was a time when people stood in line to go to the west, but not now because they have realised that situation here is much better than in the west.
But some people are still lured to to the west, but then who are we to crticise them, for it is a free world, and we should let people live their lives without judging them.
It is high time we realised to live positively, and let each country grow to its full potential: for as we all know the road taken maybe different for each one of us but the goal is the same.

Raji,

Personally I think these people are doing the right thing by saying 'Proud to be Indian'. Every newspaper praised opening ceremony. It was a good job done. It is matter of national pride and bringing corruption, poverty etc. at this stage would not help.

Indians needed to be critical of preparation and corruption when required..that is what worked to fix the problems besides pressure from other countries.

Most NRIs are associated with India but only big events require saying 'Proud to be Indian'...we cannot keep saying it every day.

When an Indian origin astronaut goes to space, we say we proud to be of same race, same when spelling competition is won by Indian...and so on....

I think is perfectly acceptable behavior.

@A ,i agree to the fact that we indians need to be critical and criticisize for the negatives..but does that sound good when people say "i feel ashamed to call myself an indian"?that's what i read in some of the messages in facebook;and the same people again doing vise versa later on.It's like telling "iam ashamed to be called yr son/daughter ,to a mother.isnt it?

@ rama .thanks for your comments.I really appreciate your view to accept India per se...

Raji,

I agree. "Saying ashamed to be Indian" is going too far

well well What do i say to that , I am still against the cwg, for i do feel let down by the officials, and rest of the stuff. But that doesnot mean i am against india or anything like that...

Indeed I defintely would not like to take sides with people who cahnge there vocals everytime and that too coming from the likes of chetan bhagat but then we already know what sort of a person he is when it came to the movie too..

But I do feel ashamed of the way things have gone and the embrassment it has caused all over , I WAS and AM still against the games for that reason This could have been avoided and TO me this was the right moment to show these officials that we the citizens or Indians mean business and wont take it anymore...

The games have gone ahead and as usual they will finish on a high note and then all these people who have put us down will be honoured with various things to show how good they are ...

As usual NOTHING or hardly anyone will be punished mind you sacking to me is not a punishment cause these people have in my eyes betrayed the country and shud be treated for TREASON...

Proud to be indian does not mean you turn a blind eye to anything just because India is involved, IT doesnot mean i am a traitor if i say india is dirty or this or that happens in the country ... That is the TRUTH and saying the truth is never wrong...

Why do we take offence is someone says it SO WHAT IF HE/SHE have said it , it is the truth HOW many of us out there give a DAMN about a fellow citizen..

I can Vouch for one thing in india or outside india.. AN INDIAN WILL NEVER EVER HELP A FELLOW INDIAN , yes there will be exception but on the whole it never happens I have seen it with my own eyes and experienced it ... Whereas we will support an outsider always ...

IT is also true that most people keep saying i love india, blah blah yet they do nothing about it but are the first ones to moan, To those people i would say do something good.. anything big or small ...

coming back to CWG the officals leaders have brought shame to our country hopefully or athletes will be able to make up for it and i wish them all the best

CWG looks well organized, even after all that corruption happened. We could have done much better

@ BIKRAM i understand what u mean to say..but then cancelling the games would have been a bad option bikram. At a global level ..India needs to prove, issues like corruption, poverty are like part and parcel of our country and we are ,and will continue fighting against .It would take some time for these things to resolve,or i really doubt that it will. But progresses are defintely there.
