It's raining in the area where i live, since past 1 week and the the past 2 days have been really cloudy and rainy. Rain always instills a peculiar zeal in me and so I thought of dedicating my post to it.Though rainy season lasting for long may be annoying for many of us," first rains" are always impressive .
First drops always carry an array of feelings in us;right from the stage when the grey cloud starts forming ,till the touch of the droplets to the soil,to the ceasing gloomy stage ;we are always carried away into "roller coaster ride of emotions".The aroma of the drenched soil soothing our senses, the sight of the blowing trees and swaying droplets soothing our eyes ,the harmonious melody of the down pour soothing our ears, they all leave us mesmerised. We may be in a "nostalgic world "filled with sweet /bitter memories form the past .For some it may be an expression of euphoria; hearts would be intrigued by passion and romance. On the contrary ,it may also carry a sense of tranquility ,bore dome or indolence .With a sense of desolation within us ,we would be constantly gazing at the foggy sky.We would sleep for hours even if we are not stressed;we would have an increased appetite to specific foods, even if the body doesn't demand. So strange and wonderful are these rainy days.

Nice write up raji! almost like a poem. loved reading it.
I enjoy walking in rains, I was born and brought up in Kerala where it rains almost every month.
Raji,
I agree with Anupama. It is almost like a poem...very good ..may be consider reformatting/rewriting as poem. It is very nice for sure..even if you don't change.
Nice write up. Since we both live in the same area, we both are experiencing the same rain. Rain always perks me up.
Thanks "Anu","A","Sg".It actually was a overflow of emotions which turned out to be a article;it should have been a poem:).
@chitra ,yes i know kerala has such heavy rains...I used to live at Mangalore,so almost experienced the coastal affects .
First rains are always fun !You have penned down your thoughts so beautifully Raji .
Out here monsoon is over and we are moving towards winter..
@Thank u kavita ji...
The best memories are of the rainly days of childhood. We used to wait for the rains to go out and paly in the rain water.Floating paper boats and watching them drift away in rain water is a lasting memory.Growing up,the feelings related to rain changed.I think it evokes more feelings of romance, with the rhythmic music of rain drops in the background.
Oh yes I love the first rains especially when i was in my vilalge, the first drops on the land the smell of just wet land .. is awesome and soon it becomes alll KEECHAd and the fun we had playing in it , getting all mucky and them jumping into the river...
Paper boats .. woh kagaz ki kashit woh baarish ka paani :) awesome

@dr and bikram ,each one of us have their own childhood memories and fun days when we remember those rainy days. Its nice that i took you back to those old days..:)
Nice post Raji. Being from Kerala, your post/poem took me back to our rainy season. The First rain is always special with that earth smell which accompanies it.
I like to sit for hours just looking at the rain thorough my window or from sitting on the patio. I feel then that the rain is falling on my heart and mind, each drop brings coolness to my senses...
Have you tried touching the leaves softly with your face, soon after rain? whenever I get chance, I go to our backyard after rain and touch the leaves on low lying branches with my face. When the fresh leaves and the raindrops on them touch your face, it takes you to another world..try it once if you can...It will be an out of the world experience…
Hi ,tht's a nice thing u explained..i too can sit n gaze for hours at the rain;but i never tried touching the rain drops filled leaves with my face, though i have felt it with my arms...it must be a delightful experience!
