We all share the same spirits!!revisited

I know ,when I last wrote this post ,most of you didn't agree that cricket was going to somehow involve us into the maze .Truly speaking being at USA, I couldn't really watch most of the Indian matches and only saw the scores the next morning.(It starts at 2 am night and ends at 9 am ).Though staying miles apart form India which is buzzing with cricket updates and conversations ,I could sense the ongoings here owing to the news channel ,media and  you tube updates. We unknowingly tend to involve into the conversations ,poke our nose into the rumors about cricketers, start commenting about the cricketer's performance their flaws and expected  improvised performances.
I felt a little offbeat and off track when most of my Indian friends used to talk about the 'cricket' strikes and hits of the last match and I was not aware of those scenes ,as I just watched the scores and highlights. It was only when I heard of the India Australia match ,which was supposed to be a 'DO or Die' match for India owing to it's entry to the semi finals that my spirits arouse again. In-spite of that,I couldn't manage to stay awake the entire night compromising my whole night's sleep ,but managed to wake up early and watch India's bating performance.Sachin's bating which met the expectations reasonably,Yuvi's bating which crossed all barriers and over met people's expectations leading us towards a victory ,all this was indeed a scintillating experience. After all ,India ended Aussies reign over the World cup Finals match after a long 11 years gap.In  11 years, this is the first time that Aussies are going back home without entering the finals! Now ,India even though has Hockey as it's national game, is crazy for cricket ,reason nobody knows!May be owing to the generations following cricket , 'Gilli Danda 'the traditional amateur street game popularized since ages ;the British memoir or  also the cricket world cup victory which the Indian team achieved under Kapil's captancy back in 1983. Whatever is the case ,we are all captivated by  this game and feel it as a matter of pride of the country.
30 th march -is going to be one big day for the Indians ,with Pakistan confronting them for the Semi Finals and it's no less than a cold  war.We have Pakistan , expertized in Bowling and India in bating;raising the nervousness .I think this one day ,even the unenthusiastic cricket haters also would open up their ears or widen their eyes to at least hear scores or take a peek to the headlines or highlights.I know that in India it's almost a national holiday atmosphere ,owing to the 'cricket fever' being the sole reason for leave from offices. Some private offices have even declared a half day leave for the employees well being:)) Let's hope for the best and cheer for the Indian team .

Ps:By the time this post is read ,we will be aware of the winners:))

From soda to tooth paste !

These days I feel guilty while sipping on my Cola drinks /carbonated drinks ,because some people claim that drinking a cola is equivalent to gulping down pesticides and toxins  directly. This is not my statement, but the ranting  statement given by the RSS(Rashtriya swayam seva samithi)organisation in India regarding the carbonated drinks and they claim that people should resort to more healthier drinks and also rant that they have  their own "health drink" named Gauloka peya or 'Gau Jal'/cow water . Don't be mis-leaded by the term cow water, for it is not water but a drink made of cow urine!Yes ,cow urine has some very good medicinal properties which has acclaimed to be a good health drink combined with some herbs .The RSS have even made some good flavors and have distilled and further processed it to remove the offensive smell and taste of the urine. So it doesn't even taste /smell urine!check it here .

Ayurveda ,a well known medicine system originated from India but also practiced and adapted worldwide is the well renovated form of medicine.Susruta Samhita and Charaka Samhita are the two most resorted literature of traditional medicines even today ,even though transcribed thousands of years ago.A lot of ailments are treated with this well known form of medicine ranging from Diabetes ,Blood pressure ,skin disorders to Cancer. These Books also explains some surgeries and treatments which could be linked to the allopathic principles too.One such ancient medicinal therapy practised even today and also rejuvenating in a wider form is the traditional 'cow urine therapy'.The  ancient transcript excerpts from Susrutha samhita  and Ashtanga Sangraha have proven literature describing the benefits of cow's urine in treating a variety of disorders ranging from skin disorders ,Diabetes to Aids and Cancer.Cow's urine is said to have  many properties like Germicidal benefits  acting as a natural antibiotic ;provide micro nutrients and essential minerals to the body owing to the presence of many of the minerals in it.This also has been given credits to have  increased the immunity powers and body resistance,  also has anti cancer properties .US have obtained patents for the drug launched by the RSS for cancer . Here's the link .Cow urine is also said to have both 'medhya 'and 'hradhya' properties ,which translates as being an  aid for  both brain and heart stabilization. It balances the disorders created by both heart and brain .Also the Three 'doshas'/disorders in the body namely Vata (gas),Pitta(liver disorders)and kapha(respiratory) are neutralized or balanced. According to Ayurvedic principles ,'Mandagni'/low digestive fire in the body causes many of the diseases and so Cow's urine compensates for the low digestive ability.A lot of researches  have been conducted and are in process ,to  support these benefits and has been proved too. There is a lot of debate regarding this cow urine therapy and a lot of critics/scientists  are skeptical and question the reliability of a body waste for the health benefits. They feel that ' urine',which is the  result of processing of all body nutrients and is only an eliminated body waste, is meant only for getting rid off and not for any therapies. Also the Cow urine is said to be habitat  for a variety of microorganisms and consumption could also cause many disease like Respiratory infections ,Bovine Tuberculosis , Diarrhea and many other ailments. But the fact is that Cow urine benefits listed above can still be implied and consumed when it is distilled and is free of microorganisms.
Scientific researches and Laboratory tests have been conducted on Cow urine and is proved to  contain a variety of chemicals like nitrogen, sulphur ,magnesium, silicon ,chlorine, vitamins A ,B C and E ,Lactose ,creatinine Uric acid etc.and all these chemicals have their own particular effects which would help balance the chemical imbalance in the body leading to many of the diseases and thereby owing to the cure of these diseases. Here's a list I found in many of the links I searched and have just copy pasted this for reference:

  1. Nitrogen (N2, NH2): Removes blood abnormalities and toxins, Natural stimulant of urinary track, activates kidneys and it is diuretic.
  2. Sulphur (S): Supports motion in large intestines. Cleanses blood.

  6. Urea CO(NH2)2: Affects urine formation and removal. Germicidal.
  7. Uric Acid (C5H4N4O3): Removes heart swelling or inflammation. It is diuretic therefore destroys toxins.
  8. Phosphate (P): Helps in removing stones from urinary track.
  9. Sodium (Na): Purifies blood. Antacid.

Hindus believe Cow to be holy/auspicious and  Cow's urine and Cow dung have been in use as a purifying/disinfecting  agent  or has been used in may of the rituals and ceremonies by the Hindus since ages. The cow dung is smeared in front of the house for cleansing the dirt and is considered auspicious.cow dung is also used as a cooking fuel for burning and it's use as a fertilizer is well known. But now,the cow dung  has also extended use for medicines .Cow dung is generally dried for a week ,cured at high temperatures and mixed with various herbs for producing medicines.'Panchagavya ',a preparation made out of 5 ingredients namely curds ,milk ,ghee ,cow' urine and cow dung is considered holy and is used in ceremonies  for internal purification and also as a medicine for the human body for many of the ailments.Yes, so Ayurveda suggests Cow urine and Cow Dung for internal usage!

These benefits are yet comprehensible ,but unnecessary commercialization and  endorsements have always been critical in all the cases and so is true here in the case of cow urine /cow dung benefits .A sudden appearance of numerous companies producing distilled Cow urine; surge in prices ;drastic growth in various  product manufacturing ,marketing justifies this.Consumption of Cow urine for health benefits have been modified and has been  taken undue advantage so much that it has been claimed to have medicinal products in every single product we use day to day form a tooth paste to a cream!Imagine Cow dung in a cream !Isn't that something weird?A shampoo,a face cream ,a pain reliever oil ,children's tonic ,eye drops , mosquito coil ,a phenyl for cleaning ,tablets ,a alternative  for Viagra ,sexual well being ,etc etc..the list is enormous! They have added cow urine to every single product combined with the other Ayurveda medicines . Don't believe me? check here

PS:I am not intending to hurt sentiments of any religion or organisation here. The cow urine use for medicines have been proven already. My concern is only about the commercialization and  harassment of people in the name of medicine charging hundred's of rupees and dollars.

LABOR OF LOVE

Surrogacy has always been a long debated topic.Surrogacy is an option chosen by couples usually as a last resort  ,when a Lady cannot  not conceive or carry a baby in her womb due to various reasons which may include a missing /abnormal uterus, multiple pregnancy failures ,breast cancer or any other factors.A surrogate mother carries the embryo which is implanted  into her  womb after the in vitro fertilization of the couple's egg and sperm respectively. So there is some sort of emotional satisfaction associated with the parents  that the 'baby' is biologically theirs.
Now ,it's challenging equally both for the mother and the surrogate mother respectively to adopt this option. The mother always has the guilt that she has not carried the child in her womb and has not experienced the eternal feeling of motherhood ;while on the other hand the surrogate mother who has felt  the bonding with the child in the womb , cannot even experience the pleasure of motherhood by raising the child she gave birth to. The reason for me writing this post was because , recently ,I came across this programme named 'Labor of love ' on CNBC channel which played an interview of  a 52 year old lady named Crystal Sirignano who has been a 'surrogate mother'.This news made me just spell bound. The fact that a 52 year old lady conceiving itself was one shocking news and added to it was the fact that she  was doing it for none other than her own daughter! As I saw her glowing face reflecting  immense pride, speaking about her decision to conceive for her daughter,I was filled with mixed emotions of a strange sense of awkwardness and also appreciation. She narrated that her daughter Kendra Sirignano, who had some health issues had been going through depression continuously since 3 years for not being able to conceive and have her own baby. That's when she decided to get herself tested and do her share of help to her daughter for her happiness. Her statement stating that the doctor considered her uterus to be as strong and healthy as a 18 year old gal ,brought a smile on my face. The proud Grand Mother  has delivered not one ,but twins for her daughter. Her daughter on being interviewed ,said that she never ever considered  surrogacy as an option and that it was her mother's idea to conceive for her. She was very apprehensive with the fact that her mother's health would be posed to risk ,but her mother was very much  insistent and she felt  extremely grateful to her  for this brave step.We have read and heard ' Bhagavad Geetha 'that 'there is no other living God in this earth 'and we could reciprocate the favor done to us by anyone in life ,but not of that done by  our mother owing to the 9 months of struggle she would have gone to give birth to us.But after reading this, what would you say about  this mother who has gone one step ahead and even done it for her kid's kids at this age!

We all share the same spirits!!

As I cling to the sofa sets with my Laptop serving it's real purpose('Lap'+top) for watching the much awaited world cup,I flow across an array of nostalgic moments.I remember How my Dad  being a huge cricket admirer ,almost never missed any of the matches and only 'cricket'  was aired all the time during the  cricket season .We ,as kids used to feel extremely irritated and frustrated about the fact that we would have to compromise our favorite shows on Tv for Dad's cricket. Then ,slowly a slight inclination developed with a  few ' tits and bits 'glimpses  now and then from the Cricket match which finally was transformed to a  passion. That's how we were introduced and conditioned to cricket!Nevertheless ,I do not repent for that because once you follow the game and the game spirits ,it's always fun to watch cricket  overall, though it can be a little boring occasionally.
It's world cup season and I know that especially  in India, it's a 'cricket mania' which follows.India, called a 'secular nation' may have diversities in so many aspects ,but when it comes up to cricket , Indians are so much coherent and we share the same spirits irrespective of caste and creed and age.Well 'sex' I am not sure!(Male vs female ratio of inclination to cricket is always questionable till date) :)The discussions everywhere would be about cricket and only cricket  from an ordinary 'chaiwala' to a witty engineer or a wealthy businessman .Discussions could range from a tiny tot advising the cricketer to bat/bowl /field to a senior person  analyzing  all  possibilities for the victory or calculating the reason for a failure. Maid -owner ;a worker- Hirer ; kids - parents all share the same shoes when it comes to cricket.Cricket  excuses for delays /early escape from office or for a  leave is  not  forbidden for an employer .Wives would have mixed emotions /conflicting feelings perfectly alike a commercial masala movie. Thanks to cricket for being a reason for the husbands  turning up home early and also credits to 'cricket' for being a cause for their frustration and also missing their favorite serials !Naturally the wives  would be frustrated when the husbands would pretend to be deaf and dumb glued to the TV sets and  inadvertently transforming them  insane .There could be nothing fascinating and engrossing as their favorite match .

PS: Hope the Indian team coincides with the essence of this song ""De Ghuma Ke"

"Mownam sarvatra sadhanam"

"Mownam sarvatra sadhanam":This is a famous sanskrit language  saying popular even now.I know few of my friends may think"look who is saying what"Lol..But philosophies can be narrated and sometimes after lots of efforts ,can be followed too.So it's  'self reflection' and  self realization here!.Any ways ,this saying elaborates as"Silence  conquers everywhere".We have heard a lot of other quotes  related to this;for instance, 'Silence can speak a thousand words';'words are like silver ;whilst silence is golden'and so on..But do you guys really feel this 'funda 'really works?
Several situations in life demand us to 'vomit out our words' and we may usually end up in mere' shit ' the same. Our elders would have preached  us their golden line  "Do not get into an argument ,since that comes with a package of  a chain of  other complexities and difficulties".Sometimes ,we feel this really works! We actually need not speak up to express our disagreement /dislike towards any views/issues.There need not be a 'battle field 'scenario to resolve a simple issue.Silence can speak a lot and express even the unexpressed, and  the opposite person would be able to comprehend what you meant.Imagine a situation with an intense argument between two people and we do not agree with the situation and  respond in an stringent manner and the situation is more like an act of vengeance; the end result would be a disturbed mood or ambiance created there.Usually , the words may create more nuisance than solving an issue, either by hurting a person's sentiments or hurting your own sentiments .Well, makes us repent and  realize the worthiness of the  quote"spoken words and broken glass are both un-repairable'!
Also , there is an another proverb  contrary to the above saying, which  says:"mownam sammati lakshanam",which means "silence indicates consent": when a person is silent , it indirectly signifies that the person is contended or agreed to the decision. So this seems a very sensitive issue and needs to be balanced according to the situation.Friends ,what do you feel ?Is silence really' golden 'always? Will this principle work out in today's age and generation?

Most memorable memory and treasurable asset!!

Memories are always an eternal part of one and all and we are incomplete without these memoirs. These memories keep us going and brings back smiles /tears on our faces .Memories right from our baby days ,childhood days ,school days ,college days and till date. Some of the sweet and bitter  memories that we cherish:
" First day at school"
"First performance on stage at school"
"First prize you won"
First appreciation from your parents
First day at college
First love
The  marriage day moments.
The mixed reactions we had on the day we had our child :a little tears and lot of smiles!
"The First scolding ,beating from your parents"
First humiliation/embarrassment you faced.
The day when you got severely wounded /hurt.
"Your First failure "which made you cry.
The day you lost someone very close to you.
The day you departed from someone very close to you.
These are just a few and the list can go on and on.
Though I have a lot of memoirs in my list; I can relate mostly to that moment when my Dad consoled me and was assertive about me and praised me and said that he was happy about me ,to a relative of ours.  This  relative had in fact criticised me for scoring less in my 12 th grade and said I could not achieve anything with those scores as it was very crucial those days to score a 90%and above to get inti a professional course.
Another important event which I would cherish forever is the day when my child, who was just 9 months old had a health problem and I couldn't understand what it was and was helpless and held him in my arms and rushed to the hospital with a common friend of ours .So  that moment could be  "the most memorable memory".
And also to add on we also have certain assets which we are very possessive about, and would treasure it with us life long.Like for instance ,I treasure my Dad's first gift which was an simple steel  titan watch , I received when I was in 8th grade ,and treasure  it even now; in spite of having so many other watches after that.So friends, I thought of keeping this as an open platform for recalling and sharing your thoughts about your "most memorable memory"and your "treasurable asset"if you have one.Go ahead and feel free to put forth your views.

why say "no"when you want to say "yes"

I am not speaking about  the famous book "don't say yes when you want to say no"written by Herbert and Jean .well, this title is contrary to that.Have I confused you?well that was not my intention though! We  would have read a lot of books inspiring or motivating us for 'optimism',strategies to overcome the 'inferiority complex' within us and transform us into an " ideal figure" to be an  example to the aspiring .It's always good to develop confidence within us and have a sense of assertiveness;but have you all noticed that there would be times when the 'assertiveness' could be just for the sake of it ;or 'confidence' could be just 'over  confidence '.
There may be several situations in life where we tend not to give up at any cost even  though we may not be in the right path.A sense of unbound confidence tends to envelope us and also dominate our senses. We wouldn't agree to the circumstance even though  the situation would demand that. Our "ego"seems to overrule our "instinct";and the consequence would be "no"to a "yes".Humility would never  humiliate us!But we sometimes seem to forget this, and so I quote here"do not say' no'when you want to say 'yes'.

Reality shows no more a reality ,but still love watching them why...?

I remember those days when we all were waiting for the Friday evening to watch our favorite Antakshari hosted by Annu kappor on Zee television or Saregama by Sonu nigam .Those days were dominated by only such entertainement shows.
And then came an era loaded with so many entertainment shows ;initially occcupied with singing shows ,which was later modified as "reality singing shows"with audience interactions and voting; continued by  shows like "Kaun banega crorepati "were even a megastar like Amitabh Bacchan came into scene and later replaced  by every every possible superstar in Bollywood. It was so fascinating to watch these favorite superstars on Television screen. But this was also a diminishing facade.Every channel had to survive the war for the fittest in the" reality world"and prove their hierarchy!.They strived hard ;tried imitating and mimicking so many foreign channel shows and succeeded also .We had "Big boss",Indian version of "Bigbrother";we had Indian idol" ,again Indian version of "American idol" ;we had "Khatron ka khilady hosted by Akshay kumar , inspired by  some other famous shows...the list goes on .
Now it is a rage of all possible singing and dancing reality shows with "3 idiots",i mean 3 celebrity judges usually(no hard feelings for anyone particular..love them all)with their profound advices for the contestant. Ironically,it seems like the whole world is filled with singers and dancers alone.Every single channel has a singing /dancing show hosted! And each show have film stars every week publicising and promoting their movies and giving their valued opinions .At times ,even the channel promotes its next upcoming serials /shows on this particular reality show. Most of the times you can see all these judges with weird facial expressions for their favorite singers and strange actions .You can see them dancing ,singing ,fighting with the contestant's parents ,getting into arguments with each other, and what not! We have very humorous scenes, love proposals, emotional dramas, goofed up family sentimental stories from the judge's and contestant's side. Its a" full pack masala movie",.directed by an intelligent director. We know that it's all a facade ,but still enjoy watching them .why ?

why does my child throw things?

frameborder="0">

A child's mind is a complex  riddle and is extremely difficult to solve. Child has a wide array of behavior patterns at each phase of its life and as parents its challenging to mold them. Every parent would have experienced one or the other behavioral abnormalities; one among them would be throwing stuffs around. A child grows through different physical, intellectual, social and emotional developmental stages , during its growth.

In the toddler stage (2 to 3years) child is its own boss and is in the terrible tantrum” phase. A child’s intellectual ability is just budding, it is just learning to speak in full sentences and in turn child may not be able to express his /her needs to the adequate level and in turn may express discomfort/needs by showing this type of behavior. In this phase child may the throw a lot of temper tantrums and this method of throwing things may be a way to show their anger/ frustration when they do not acquire what they needed or are dissatisfied. It seems like they get some sort of gratification by doing this act. They may be lacking the   attention what they are craving for. So by doing this, it is likely that they   attract the attention of their parents who may be engaged with their activities. Also, a child at this stage explores and acquires a lot of things and habits. So the child has fun by throwing everything what comes on its way –may it be a soft ball, a toy or a utensil, crockery or glass object. So as parents we need to guide them and help them distinguish the difference between a play object and a valuable /dangerous object.

Even as the child grows up and reaches the preschool stage, they may be persistent with this behavior. This may be a consequence to the parents  over pampering. Without even realizing the fact, we may be ignoring our child’s flaws  and not guide them to the right track. A little bit of authority over your child’s behavior is acceptable; we need to incorporate some discipline in the child. Striking a balance between love and discipline is desired; do not let your love and empathy rule over your child’s behavior. They acquire a lot of intellectual capability by this age. So training them is important and making them realize about their bad mannerisms is necessary.

Some kids may have this problem of throwing things along with lot of other behavioral abnormalities and may even continue this into their school age. If the kids are too impulsive, restless and  aggressive and do not have a control over their actions, is not following your talk or grasping or responding to your commands, then it may be due to an associated developmental /medical condition –it could be ADHD OR ADD; AUTISM, ASPERGER’S SYNDROME; HEARING IMPAIREDNESS OR SOME OTHER SORT OF DEVELOPEMENTAL DELAYS, and your child may need assistance of a developmental and behavioral specialist or a pediatric psychiatrist.

WHY DOESN'T MY CHILD EAT?

This is a very common preferred topic of choice for discussion by most of the parents. Most of the kids almost three fourth the population of kids could be considered “fussy eaters “ ,if we don’t really try to tackle this issue.!
• Kids naturally aren’t bad eaters. They aren’t really inborn to be fussy eaters! There are so many factors which consequentially makes them so. “As the seeds you sow, so the fruits you reap “so why not start at the beginning? When the child is just out of the breast feeding stage and begins its first food we can try molding them and customizing them to our needs, which in turn are their needs also, so that we avoid the forthcoming obstacles to feeding. Starting off with the food that meets your expectations and are going to be a part of the child’s regular diet hence forth(like some fruits ,vegetables ,rice. Dry fruits, soups, fruit juices, etc) is a great idea. Initially you may face difficulties (there may be a few vomiting, burping, spitting episodes) but it’s pretty much normal and the child naturally overcomes all these. Start only with little and slowly raise it to the level of their appetite. You have a vague idea of how much your child needs, so make it a point that you feed them the necessary quantity. So by this we are gradually conditioning the child to a particular diet.

• This is the first stage. If you have crossed this stage and your child is at the next stage (toddler or a kindergarten) and child creates fuss and nuisance for eating, running around the entire house yelling and resisting ,then its time for your action. You need to draw a line and judge if your child is really not hungry or is just trying to avoid the food just because he doesn’t like it , and can get rid of it by all these tantrums!
• If your child isn’t really hungry then there’s no point just blaming the kid. The point is child would have been overfilled with other snacks or junk food; had in between and there wouldn’t be any scope for more filling. So give him/her some space, let it relax and then feed them when they demand for it! Let the child be damn hungry; as simple as it is.

• But this isn’t the right practice though, and so my sincere suggestion would be to avoid giving them those stuffs and keep them to reinforce after their meal. Also reinforcing the child by giving his favortie toy/letting him go out to play /watching his favorite tv shows, etc works well.

• If the child is trying to avoid the food then there may be several reasons, the most common being that the child isn’t finding the food interesting or tasty.  Decorate the food or present it to the child in an interesting manner. So you can add on some sausages, flavors of their choice; make veggies unnoticeable by mixing them with some favorite food of theirs like a pasta or sandwich or a burger; grind the vegetable into a fine paste and mix with a pasta or rice so that it becomes a nice flavor to enjoy; vegetable soups are another option; if your child resists drinking milk ,then switch to cheese or yoghurt ,which are equally rich in vitamins and calcium; fruits could be blended with cream, fruit smoothies are another option; so you can go on .. try out different crazy things !

• Kids act fussy also at times seeking their parent’s attention. We may be busy with our own tasks, and unnoticeably we may not be paying attention to them .so try being with them or feeding them as an option during their lunch time.

• Some kids may avoid food as sequel to overanxious mothers trying to overfeed beyond limits, or pressurizing them to eat food. So as a consequence, the kid’s plea away by the sight of food. Make eating a casual, pleasure full experience. Each Childs appetite and limits may vary, keep this in mind!
